How we decide what to ask

When you load this site we read standard connection headers, and if needed we look up the country and region of your IP address, solely to apply the right privacy rule set. Visitors in the EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland see an opt-in notice under GDPR. Visitors in California see CCPA/CPRA choices, including do-not-sell-or-share. Other U.S. states with consumer privacy statutes receive the matching opt-out tools. If we cannot tell, we apply the Foundation's CNMI / U.S. baseline: essential storage only until you choose otherwise.

Essential storage

Essential storage remembers the language you select and the privacy choice you make so we do not ask on every page. It is required to run the site. We do not use it to identify you across other websites.

Analytics (optional)

Analytics stay off until you opt in. If you choose Accept all, we may record first-party page counts to understand which information is useful. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run retargeting, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising. A Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track signal turns analytics off even if a prior choice said otherwise.

Fonts, news, and other tools

Typefaces are served from this website so your browser does not call Google Fonts. CNMI news headlines are fetched on our server and then shown to you, so your IP address is not sent to Google News or a third-party RSS host from your browser. The Typhoon Sinlaku relief portal is a separate site with its own notices.

Do not sell or share

The Marianas Foundation does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you are in California or another opt-out jurisdiction, you can still record that preference. Use or the buttons on the cookie bar. We honor Global Privacy Control as a valid opt-out.
