About us

A community foundation for the Northern Marianas

The Marianas Foundation is a CNMI nonprofit dedicated to improving quality of life across Saipan, Tinian, and Rota by converting community-benefit funds into transparent grants, micro-loans, and programs that strengthen families, support local organizations, and enable long-term economic development.

Mission

To improve the quality of life across the CNMI by responsibly converting $MARI community-benefit funds into transparent grants, micro-loans, and programs that strengthen families, support local organizations, and enable long-term economic development.

Vision

A CNMI that is a better place to live and visit, where communities have dependable resources to invest in people, small businesses, education, and public-benefit projects regardless of political cycles.

How we work

Integrity

We operate independently of government, with documented board actions, recusal rules, and written policies that put community benefit first.

Transparency

Governing documents, disbursement criteria, and program summaries are published. Trust is earned through consistent, public action, not promises.

Island equity

Saipan, Tinian, and Rota are named in our mission. Geographic balance is a standing review criterion, not an afterthought.

Stewardship

Community-benefit funds are held in custody, reviewed against criteria, and reported. Large disbursements require board approval.

  • Documented board actions with meeting minutes
  • Financial oversight with regular audits
  • Approval thresholds for major disbursements
  • Public-facing reporting and transparency
